The HALAR®-Probe illustrates the use of very diverse materials for the most extreme of measurement tasks. It has been designed for continuous quality control of acid etching baths in the manufacture of semiconductors. Stainless steel is not suitable in this environment, but thanks to the HALAR® coating (E-CTFE plastic layer), the probe is able to resist the aggressive hydrofluoric acid mixture.

The optical surfaces must also be able to withstand these extreme conditions. For this reason all optical components that come into contact with the product are made of highquality sapphire material. In spite of these extreme demands, the optics have been so arranged that the primary and reflected beams are separated. This results in very low values for stray light.
